Food stylist Udo Reichelt-Schaurer, an introduction
Food stylist Udo Reichelt-Schaurer has a reputation as someone who brings considerable artistic culinary skill and professionalism to his work. He relishes a challenge, can think outside the box, and can step up to deliver on a tight brief. All this he manages with great humour and quiet resolve – he is a great collaborator.
History
All my life I’ve been fascinated and inspired by food. I have fond memories working as a young boy in the local bakery, my grandad’s butchers shop and especially, helping my grandmother prepare for Christmas feasts. After leaving music college I retrained as a chef in my native Germany, working later in restaurants and cafes. I never liked working in dark, tucked away kitchens. Eventually, I left, and moved to England, where, after a long training, I found my perfect job as a food stylist.
I love working on new ideas, exploring new trends and learning more about food and its incredible international and intercultural history. Travelling around the world and sometimes really being able to go back to basics are just two of the wonderful privileges of my job.
For me, working with food is like a friendship. You have to really listen, think about your position and approach before you can create a unique style and deliver a great result.
