All my life I’ve been fascinated and inspired by food. I have fond memories working as a young boy in the local bakery, my grandad’s butchers shop and especially helping my grandmother prepare for Christmas feasts. After leaving music college I retrained as a chef in my native Germany, working later in restaurants and cafes. I never liked working in dark, tucked away kitchens so I left, and moved to England, where, after a long training, I found my perfect job as a food stylist.
I love working on new ideas, exploring new trends and learning more about food and its incredible international and intercultural history. Travelling around the world and sometimes really being able to go back to basics are just two of the wonderful privileges of my job.
For me, working with food is like a friendship, you have to really listen, think about your position and approach before you can create a unique style and deliver a great result.

“Udo is a delight to work with, going beyond the call of duty to get things done with great style and to tight deadlines. This project was arranged at the last minute just before Christmas and he made it work brilliantly – despite major changes with very little notice. The images were fantastic.”
Josephine Forster, Commissioning Editor – Daily Mail
“Udo is a pleasure to work with: extremely organised, efficient and always brilliant fun, too. He thinks of every little detail and his food looks and tastes showstopping. No task is too big, no request too outrageous – which makes him a wonderful asset to fast-paced, unpredictable newspaper and magazine photoshoots. For my WeFiFo dinner party, he helped me plan, organise, cook and deliver a four-course meal for six strangers at very short notice. The guests had a fantastic evening and so did I – all thanks to Udo. He makes hard work seem like fun. Without a doubt, the very best in the business.”
